A smudgy sun rose through a ghostly haze that hung as if it were a wet sheet covering the deceased living room furniture. It was the winter solstice, a festive season, a time of good will and happiness even as the world raged on with wars and violence. Wondering why this could be allowed to continue day after day was more painful than the allusive death fear. A violent wave of fire seared this thought. A vicarious torch stood there...melting away under the ghostly haze.
